SUBCOMMONS: SYMPOIESIS AND OTHER BIRTHPLACES IN COHABITING AND CO-CREATING AMIDST RUINS
This research project aims to promote, through an experimental and interdisciplinary approach, a unique experimentation between the theoretical and practical fields of areas such as visual arts, philosophy, and anthropology, starting from the creative processes of visual artists. It considers the findings on climate emergency, the crisis of public and state structures, and the advance of neoliberalism, experienced as problems that culminate in the need to invent other modes of production, maintenance, and proliferation of life, taking into account the understanding of art and artistic creation not as something given and to be maintained as is, but as an epistemic problem, whose basis is mobile. Thus, the intention is to think about the processes of artistic creation in relation to the creative entanglements necessary for each inventive expression. To this end, it takes into account the efforts in constructing other subjectivities and understandings that weave more than human relationships in a multiple world, in order to broaden concepts of sociability. Thus, the aim is to consider creative relationships from the idea of sympoiesis (Haraway, 2023), which, in the thinker’s words, is a “doing-with” other humans, animals, plants, living and non-living beings, as a method to reach the subcommon (MOTEN; HARNEY, 2024), an action that not only engenders what is understood as studying, but also produces spaces and modes of existence for those who have traditionally had part of their subjectivities private.
